Shoes or no Shoes

So todays song is by, Foster the People.  It's called "Pumped up Kicks". Although I dont have much of a clue of what the song is about, I keep Imagining "The Other Kids"  running around with some old school LA gear shoes on, or was it Reebok that had the pumps.  Maybe its a "pump" womans shoe.  that would be even funnier...running around in those types of shoes.  Maybe its not even about shoes at all.  Anyway I like this original song, but the remix by DJ Kue is pretty Kuel too.  (you liked that one didn't you...Kuel)  Anyway, happy listening.

Amber... the forbidden dark energy.

This next song will throw you for a loop.  It has an almost untouched intro and verse and right when your are confident that's all there will be and you dismiss it as "eh", it shows its dark energy side.  As most of you may know the original is by 311, while this remix is by Chubby Fingers, which has to be one of the most awesome names ever. Chubby Fingers is a group of 3 djs out of the San Francisco area who do not have chubby fingers, but they do have the same DJ face... as seen here.  Jazz-e, Booker, and BlaQuest (pronounced Black Quest) have been producing and DJing music for many years and play/produce a wide range of dance music. I figure if I actually enjoy the dubstep, I will probably enjoy the other types as well, but I haven't looked so much yet.   Hope you enjoy this track and happy listening.

One for the ages...or aged.

This next song by Allure, is a track I randomly found after looking for Beetles tunes.  Allure is Lorris Piasco from France. He just released his debut “French Kiss” LP including 12 original tracks and a lot of piano/electro sounds.  Like the SBTRKT tune, Allure has found a way to use the current synth sounds and calm em down a bit.  This is one of those tunes that has not gotten old no matter how may times I play it.  I have listened to several other of his tunes and will be getting some more of his work in the future.  Hope you dig it.

Wait... how do you say it?

This next track is Wildfire by, SBTRKT pronounced "subtract". SBTRKT is a young UK producer that has been producing music for a few years anonymously and only recently revealed his identity.  The idea behind the name is referring to subtracting and simplifying his style of music which he djs and plays with live instruments.   I like knowing that when the dubstep and elecro movement is used up, we can still use all the synths for music like this.  This is the type of music  I would like to find more of.  You can play his music at http://www.sbtrkt.com/  Its totally worth the few clicks plus you can listen to his other great tracks.

Something a bit more lively

This next track is from Breakdown. A duo of brothers, Josh & Matt David out of LA. They have been producing music since 2007 and have gained quite a following. I love this dutch house track because you dont really know what is going to come next... and then the bass line drops. I like that the track isn't harsh ALL the time. I enjoy playing this as the "test song" to decide to play harsher music. Nevertheless, it's a great track and I hope you enjoy it.

Start with the Classics

This first track is a Nacey remix of an old classic. Nacey, or Andrew Wallace, is one-third of Nouveau Riche, a monthly dance night in Washington, DC. In 2008, the party was awarded Best Dance Night in the Washington City Paper's Best of DC issue. Nacey is known for his melodic sensibility, and has shared the stage with the likes of The Count & Sinden, Zombie Disco Squad, Nadastrom, DJ Craze, MSTRKRFT and Blaqstarr to name a few. This is a refreshing remix on an old classic. I particularly like the surprising lead synth parts and that Nacey left a verse with just rhythm and vocals.
